Tuvan Throat Singing | Alash | TEDxBaltimore

Published on Feb 2, 2016

Imagine a human bagpipe-a person who could sing a sustained low note while humming an eerie, whistle-like melody. For good measure, toss in a thrumming rhythm similar to that of a jaw harp, but produced vocally-by the same person, at the same time. Recorded at TEDxBaltimore January 2016. Alash are masters of Tuvan throat singing, a remarkable technique for singing multiple pitches at the same time. Masters of traditional Tuvan instruments as well as the art of throat singing, Alash are deeply committed to traditional Tuvan music and culture. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx

Abstract
Ifd I really like to remember that Franco was the first person I met when I approached the “Centro di Studio per le Ricerche di Fonetica” and I still have a greatly pleasant and happy sensation of that our first warm and unexpectedly informal talk. It is quite obvious and it seems rhetorical to say that I will never forget a man like Franco, but it is true, and that is, a part from his quite relevant scientific work, mostly for his great heart and sincere friendship.

Caratteristiche fisiologiche e acustiche del Canto Difonico

Graziano G. Tisato, Andrea Ricci Maccarini, Tran Quang Hai

Introduzione

✮ Quick photo reportage on our adventures in Mongolia this summer ✮

This sumer, we headed back to Mongolia to give away the Anthology to the musicians, khöömii tradition bearers and heritage organisations. A human adventure retraced and narrated in the film Journey In Diphonia, of which shooting was carried out between June and August in Ulaanbaatar, as well as on the paths, roads, rivers, mountains and steppes of the seven provinces, roaming around the two-thirds of the country within three weeks, through more than 5500 kms of landscape.
Here’s the back to the images of this journey – rich in events, emotions and encounters.

The crowdfunding continues with Phase 3, from July 1 to October 15, 2017
Shooting in Mongolia ended on August 8 and it was far beyond our expectations at all levels.
We came back with a lot of images and very strong stories.
From September, we’ve been working on several months of montage. As of today, 37% of the goal reached with 147 supports. But it’s not the half yet…
We invite you to continue to share this call for crowfunding Phase 3, to open the possibility that meets the project worthy of this name.
Talking about it, sharing information about social networks is already a huge help.
Participate in crowdfunding

We remind you that if we do not reach the aimed amount, regardless of the sum collected, the film will indeed exist (with certainly reduced means on the DVD) and your donations will be used for this purpose.
THANKS A MILLION, EVERYONE!
We need your help to make the film!
