“Es kommt ein Schiff, geladen” (“A ship is coming laden”) – Overtone Singing

454 viewsNov 28, 202112DislikeShareSaveOvertone Singing – Wolfgang Saus 1.38K subscribers “Es kommt ein Schiff, geladen” (“A ship is coming laden”) is one of the oldest Advent hymns in the German language. It was written before 1450.The oldest record of the melody is found in the Andernacher Gesangsbuch, Cologne 1608. A rhythmic rarity in old hymns is the change from a 6/4 to a 4/4 meter in the middle of the song. The Dorian part of the first part of the song ends on the minor third, while the second part turns to Lydian from the new root and returns to the Dorian finalis at the end. Keys with minor thirds make fundamental changes unavoidable in overtone singing, because the natural harmonic series is tuned to major. The music is arranged by Anna-Maria Hefele, Tomek Kolczynski and Giuseppe Lomeo with their individual artistic approach and character and makes extensive use of the technical possibilities of our century. The program blends the original music by Hildegard von Bingen with the trio’s own original compositions, as well as free improvisations, adopting a broad spectrum of musical components. All aspects, from field recordings and concrete music to an ample range of electronic and acoustic instruments, contribute to shape the singular quality of the project. O Wisdom’s energy! Whirling, you encircle and everything embrace in the single way of life. Three wings you have: one soars above into the heights, one from the earth exudes, and all about now flies the third. Praise be to you, as is your due, O Wisdom. Hildegard was born in 1098 is the small town of Bermersheim in the diocese of Mainz. She was the tenth child of Hildebert, a lesser noble in service to the count of Sponheim, and his wife, Mechtild. When Hildegard was 8 years old, she was enclosed with Jutta von Sponheim as an anchoress at the Benedictine monastery of Disibodenberg. As magistra, Jutta taught Hildegard to read Latin and sing from the Psalter. Hildegard took her vows as a Benedictine nun sometime around 1112. In the next 25 years, more women joined their community. When Jutta died in 1136, Hildegard was elected magistra. In 1141, Hildegard began having her first serious visions which God commanded her to write down. This work is known as Scivias (Know the Ways). According to Hildegard’s Uita, Pope Eugenius III endorsed her visions at the Synod of Trier 1147/48. In 1150, Hildegard founded her own convent at Rupertsberg followed by a second convent at Eibingen in 1163. It is during this time that Hildegard produced the majority of her works including her correspondence and preaching tours. Hildegard died on 17 of September 1179. It is based on the ancient Lambdoma Matrix which is is attributed to the philosopher Pythagoras (500 bc). ⇊⇊⇊ more info: ⇊⇊⇊ Here you can purchase a full 27 – minutes performance in video and audio for download: https://overtone.academy/product/lamb… PayPal donations: https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted… Thanks for your support! Josef Baiers Lambdoma is made out of a combination of four Lambdoma Matrixes that are arranged together as rectangle, forming a dome that can be entered by the performer as well as by the listener. It consists out of 256 tubes that are up to 3 meters long and are perfectly tuned in pure harmonic overtone – and undertone series. The music & video was recorded live in: Studienkirche St. Josef in Burghausen, Germany, 2021. For me, Anna-Maria Hefele, it was an incredible and very touching experience to work with LAMBDOMA. My ongoing overtone singing practice (since 2005) allowed me to find precise and intuitive orientation within the tonal Lambdoma structure, knowing exactly where to expect which note in the system and how they are related to each other. This enabled me to connect deeply in a very joyful way with this wonderful instrument! music, audio recording & mix: Anna-Maria Hefele https://anna-maria-hefele.com/ video: @Thomas Radlwimmerhttps://thomas.radlwimmer.at/ LAMBDOMA built by Josef Baier: http://www.josef-baier.at/ ▬ Social Media & Web ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ►YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/annamariahefele ►Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/amoberton ►Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/annamariahe… ►Web Artist: https://anna-maria-hefele.com/ ►Web Overtone.Academy: https://overtone.academy/ ►Shop: https://overtone.academy/shop ►Dates for learning overtone singing: https://overtone.academy/dates-sign-up
